Michio Suzuki founded today’s global motor company in 1909, originally building weaving looms for Japan’s silk industry.  However, he later diversified into the motor trade and in 1954 the business was renamed the Suzuki Motor Company.  It has enjoyed considerable success and is now the 4^th largest automobile manufacturer in Japan.  Border Cars took on the Suzuki franchise in 1996 and our two Suzuki dealerships are based in Dumfries and Carlisle.
