National Apprenticeship Week 2019: Skills for the Future

This week is National Apprenticeship Week. Co-ordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service, it’s designed to celebrate apprenticeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy.

Here at Border Cars, we have always been a great supporter of apprenticeship schemes and currently employ 12 apprentices across the group. Many of them are in traditional motor-trade roles such as technicians, spray painters and body repairers.

As one of our apprentices describes it “I’m just finishing my first year and have been doing a lot of servicing and warranty work, as well as getting under the hood of cars. I would love to continue working for Border Cars – they put a lot into their apprentices and there’s such a great atmosphere.”

Aaron Jameson, Managing Director said, “We are finally seeing the shift in attitudes with more people understanding the value of undertaking an apprenticeship. With tuition fees going through the roof, apprenticeships offer an ‘earn-while-you-learn’ route to a meaningful job”
