Bids came thick and fast as Border Cars Mitsubishi auctioned off lots that included tickets to the Formula 1 British Grand Prix and the recent Scotland rugby clash with New Zealand at its annual charity auction in aid of Cash 4 Kids.

When the hammer finally fell at the end of the night, Border Cars raised over £13,500 for the charity, which works to help children aged up to 18 who are disabled, disadvantaged or suffering from abuse or neglect.

The charity works across 22 areas in the UK, with the support of regional radio stations. Westsound DJ Tommy Jardine was in charge of taking the bids at Border Cars’ charity auction, which was held at the Casa Mia restaurant in Dumfries.

This is an annual charity event that Border Cars holds in aid of Cash 4 Kids, with guests enjoying a champagne reception and a three-course meal. There was also a raffle in aid of the charity with prizes donated by Cadbury’s, Jepson & Co Ltd, Santander and Barr Soft Drinks.

The generosity of those attending has contributed to Border Cars raising a grand sum of £77,900.25 for Cash 4 Kids in the last decade. Cheques for both amounts were presented to the delighted charity at Border Cars Mitsubishi in Dumfries – one of four Mitsubishi dealerships the group operates throughout the region.

Mike Fusco, Dealer Principal, Border Cars Mitsubishi, said: ““Cash for Kids is a network of local charities which reaches out to help under-privileged children in our own communities. They say charity begins at home and as a local business we felt this was the perfect way to contribute.

“Our target was to raise £10,000 for Cash for Kids but we managed to exceed it. We instead managed to raise over £13,500. We have been overwhelmed by the generosity and willingness to donate services and prizes and are delighted we managed to exceed our target. We just want to thank everyone who not only supported our 2017 auction, but those who have supported us in previous years – we couldn’t have done it without you!”
